Petrol Rises to Rs 393.75 in Pakistan — What the 22 September 2026 Change Costs Your Commute
Petrol is now Rs 393.75 a litre, up Rs 4.61. High Speed Diesel is Rs 422.08, down Rs 1.96. Here is what the new rate does to a month of commuting, city by city, and what it does not change.
The official PSO rate moved on 22 September 2026. Shareide reads that rate every 30 minutes, so these are the numbers as published, not an estimate: petrol is now Rs 393.75 a litre, up Rs 4.61 from Rs 389.14, and High Speed Diesel is Rs 422.08, down Rs 1.96.
The live rate and the full change history are on the petrol price tracker and the diesel price tracker.
What it costs per 100 kilometres now
- A 1300cc car (Honda City, about 13 km per litre): Rs 3,029 per 100 km, Rs 35 more than before.
- A Suzuki Mehran (about 15 km per litre): Rs 2,625 per 100 km.
- A 70cc motorbike (about 50 km per litre): Rs 788 per 100 km.
Work out your own vehicle and route with the fuel cost calculator — it runs on the same live rate.
What a month of commuting costs now
Petrol only, for the busiest commute in each city, driven twice a day for 22 working days:
- Karachi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal to I.I. Chundrigar Road (16 km each way): Rs 21,323 a month in petrol, Rs 250 more than at the old rate. A shared Shareide seat on the same run is Rs 20,900, and that figure does not move with the pump price.
- Lahore, Johar Town to Gulberg (9 km each way): Rs 11,994 a month in petrol, Rs 140 more than at the old rate. A shared Shareide seat on the same run is Rs 13,112, and that figure does not move with the pump price.
- Islamabad, G-11 / G-13 to Blue Area (10 km each way): Rs 13,327 a month in petrol, Rs 156 more than at the old rate. A shared Shareide seat on the same run is Rs 14,212, and that figure does not move with the pump price.
- Peshawar, Hayatabad to University Road (10 km each way): Rs 13,327 a month in petrol, Rs 156 more than at the old rate. A shared Shareide seat on the same run is Rs 14,212, and that figure does not move with the pump price.
The same sum for every city we serve, with a CSV, is in the Shareide Commute Cost Report, which re-prices itself every time this rate changes.
The line where sharing wins
At Rs 393.75 a litre, a shared seat costs less for the month than the petrol alone for a 13 km per litre car once the commute passes about 14.5 km each way — before parking, maintenance or the driving itself. Below that distance your own car is still cheaper on fuel.
What actually helps
Fuel prices are set nationally by OGRA and notified by the Finance Division; nobody at a pump decides them and no app can discount them. What you can change is how many people are in the car. A Shareide seat is the whole-car fare split three ways, and a monthly pick and drop plan fixes the rate for the month, so the next revision does not reach you mid-commute. City price lists are on the city pages.
