Most comparisons of Pakistani ride-hailing apps end with "it depends", which helps nobody. This one is organised by the trip you are actually taking.

The pricing models, which is what really separates them

Four of the five price the vehicle. That is the structural reason a solo commuter overpays: an empty back seat still appears on the bill.

Which to use, by trip

Airport at 4am with luggage — Careem or Yango. You want the whole car, a driver who will wait, and the highest chance of someone accepting at that hour.

One-off trip where you know the fair price — InDrive. Naming your own fare works well when you know the route and are not in a hurry.

Short hop, light traffic, alone — Bykea. Nothing beats a bike for 3 km through Saddar at 2pm.

Same route every working day — a per-seat monthly arrangement. This is the trip the whole-car apps price worst, because you are buying the same thing 22 times and paying a spot price each time.

Intercity with luggage and family — a whole car, from whoever quotes best.

What each does well

• Careem — the deepest driver pool in the big cities, so the highest chance of getting a ride at an awkward hour. You pay for that reliability.
• InDrive — real negotiation. Genuinely cheaper if you are patient and know the route.
• Yango — often the sharpest algorithmic pricing off-peak.
• Bykea — unbeatable for short distances and small deliveries.
• Shareide — built for the repeated commute: per-seat pricing, and a monthly plan that fixes your driver, time and price instead of re-rolling the dice every morning.

The honest caveats

No app has enough drivers everywhere at every hour. In smaller cities and at odd hours, all of them thin out. Surge is real on every app that uses it. And a bid-based app only saves you money if your bid is realistic — an unrealistically low offer just means nobody accepts and you lose twenty minutes.
