How to Go Online and Offline on the Fleet App

One switch controls whether ride requests reach you at all. Here's exactly how going online and offline works on the Shareide Fleet app.

How to Go Online and Offline on the Fleet App

Every ride request that reaches you on Shareide Fleet depends on one simple switch: whether you are online or offline. Get this wrong — forget to go online, or stay online when you meant to log off — and you either miss earning opportunities or keep getting requests when you are not actually available. If you have not signed up yet, see how to become a driver before any of this applies to you. Otherwise, here is exactly how the toggle works.

What going online and offline actually controls

Going online tells Shareide you are available and ready to accept ride requests — instant rides, scheduled rides, and monthly commute matches, depending on what you have opted into. Going offline removes you from matching entirely; no new requests will reach you until you switch back on. It is separate from your GPS location, which the app uses to match you to nearby riders once you are online — being online with location access off will not get you matched properly, so make sure both are working together.

How to go online

  1. Open the Shareide Fleet app and make sure you are logged in with a completed driver profile.
  2. Find the online/offline toggle, usually front and centre on your home or dashboard screen.
  3. Switch it to online. The app should confirm you are now visible for ride matching.
  4. Keep the app open and your phone unlocked or in the background with notifications allowed, so ride requests actually reach you.

How to go offline

  1. Finish any active ride first. Going offline does not cancel a ride already in progress.
  2. Tap the same toggle and switch it back to offline.
  3. Confirm you are no longer marked available — the app should reflect your offline status immediately.

If you need a short break rather than logging off completely, going offline for ten or fifteen minutes and switching back on works fine — there is no penalty for toggling your status during the day as your availability changes.

Practical tips for managing your status

Go online only when you can realistically accept a ride within the next few minutes — leaving the app online while you are stuck in a shop or eating lunch just means declining requests, which affects your acceptance rate over time. Conversely, forgetting you are offline is one of the most common reasons drivers report "no rides coming in" — if requests have dried up, check your toggle before assuming something is wrong with the app. Toward the end of your shift, going offline a few minutes before you actually stop driving avoids getting matched with a ride you cannot comfortably complete.

Frequently asked questions

Will I lose ride requests if my phone screen is locked?

As long as notifications are enabled and the app has permission to run in the background, locked screens generally still allow requests to come through — but keeping the app active and your phone charged during a shift is the safest habit.

Does going offline affect my driver rating or account standing?

No. Going offline simply pauses new ride requests — it has no effect on your rating, your acceptance history, or your account status.

Can I go online for scheduled or monthly rides only, and stay offline for instant rides?

Availability options can depend on what you have set up in your Fleet profile — check your settings for ride-type preferences, or reach out via support if you want to confirm exactly how your account is configured.
