How to Delete Your Shareide Account
Whether you're switching numbers, moving cities, or just don't need the app anymore, here's exactly how to delete your Shareide account and what to check before you do.
There are plenty of legitimate reasons to close a Shareide account - you've moved to a city where you no longer need it, you're consolidating accounts, or you simply want a clean break. Whatever the reason, account deletion is meant to be straightforward, but there are a couple of things worth checking first so you don't lose anything you didn't mean to.
Before you delete your account
- Check your wallet balance. If you have funds sitting in your Shareide wallet, withdraw or use them first - once an account is deleted, recovering wallet funds afterward is far more complicated, if possible at all.
- Check for any active or upcoming rides. Make sure you don't have a scheduled ride or an active monthly subscription still running, since deleting your account will cancel these.
- Save anything you might need later. Ride receipts or ride history won't be accessible after deletion, so download or note down anything relevant beforehand.
Steps to delete your account
- Open the app and go to your Profile or Account settings. Account management options, including deletion, are typically grouped here.
- Look for an option like "Delete Account" or "Close Account." This is often placed near the bottom of the settings menu, sometimes under a "Privacy" or "Account Management" section.
- Confirm you understand what deletion means. The app should show a warning explaining that this action is permanent and what data will be removed.
- Verify your identity. You may be asked to re-enter your PIN or confirm via OTP before the deletion is processed, as a safeguard against accidental or unauthorised deletion.
- Submit the deletion request. Depending on how the feature is implemented, this may take effect immediately or after a short grace period.
If the app offers a grace period before the deletion is final, that window is usually your last chance to change your mind and log back in to cancel the request - after that, treat the deletion as permanent and irreversible.
If you're just taking a break, consider deactivating instead
Deleting your account removes your data outright, which isn't always necessary if you simply don't need the app right now but might again later - say, if you're moving away from a city where Shareide operates but expect to return. If the app offers a deactivation or pause option separate from full deletion, that can be a lighter-touch way to step away without losing your ride history, ratings, or wallet balance in the process.
Frequently asked questions
Can I recover my account after deleting it?
Generally, once an account deletion is finalised, it cannot be undone, and your ride history, ratings, and wallet data are removed. If you're unsure, check the FAQ page or contact support before proceeding.
What happens to my wallet balance if I delete my account?
You should withdraw or use any remaining wallet balance before deleting your account, since funds tied to a deleted account may not be recoverable afterward.
Will deleting my rider account also delete my driver account, or vice versa?
If you use Shareide for both roles, check whether the deletion applies to just one profile or your full account before confirming - if in doubt, ask support first through the FAQ page.
